Inter striker Lautaro Martinez is expected to be named amongst the substitutes for Argentina’s 2022 World Cup semi-final encounter against Croatia tomorrow.

According to Argentinian television broadcaster TyC Sport, and as reported by L’Interista.it, the Nerazzurri forward will not be in coach Lionel Scaloni’s starting line-up, with Lionel Messi set to be paired up front with Manchester City’s Julian Alvarez.

Martinez lost his place in the team after the Albiceleste’s second group stage match, against Mexico, and has not been able to force his way back in.

The former Racing Club striker has endured a difficult World Cup and is yet to score, after seeing a goal against Saudi Arabia in the opening game disallowed, but netted the decisive penalty in the quarter-final shootout against the Netherlands on Friday.

It is reported that Scaloni is working on three different systems in training but none include Martinez from the start, as Argentina seek to reach a second final in eight years.
