Inter striker Lautaro Martinez is set to start on the bench once again for the Argentine national team in their World Cup semifinal match against Croatia tomorrow evening.
This according to Argentine broadcaster TyC Sports, via FCInterNews, who report that Manchester City striker Julian Alvarez will once again be in the starting eleven rather than the 25-year-old Nerazzurri striker.
Martinez has started on the bench in all three of Argentina’s last three matches in Qatar, against the likes of Poland, Australia, and the Netherlands.
The Inter striker has come off the bench in all three of the matches, including scoring the winning penalty against the Netherlands in the Albiceleste’s dramatic shootout victory on Friday evening.
However, none of these have been sufficient to earn Martinez a starting place in tomorrow’s semifinal match against Croatia, according to TyC Sports.
The broadcaster reports that it will once again be Man City striker Alvarez who leads the line, with Martinez once again on the bench.
