A return of wingback Achraf Hakimi to Inter from Paris Saint-Germain seems virtually impossible, but that had also seemed the case for Romelu Lukaku’s move back from Chelsea until it actually happened.

This is the suggestion in today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who ponder whether the Moroccan’s nostalgia and desire to return to the Nerazzurri could lead him on the same path as Lukaku.

Hakimi’s chant of “Forza Inter Sempre!” in the celebrations of Morocco’s penalty shootout win over Spain at the World Cup in Qatar has shown that the Nerazzurri cause is still not far from the 24-year-old’s heart.

For the Corriere, this means that a return to Inter is not unthinkable for the Moroccan.

There would certainly be factors making a deal difficult, not least the fact that it would be tough for Inter to negotiate terms with PSG considering the wingback’s value.

However, this had long seemed the case with Lukaku, who left Inter to join Chelsea in the summer of 2021, the same summer Hakimi left for the French capital, and on an even bigger-money deal than the Moroccan.

The Belgian never really made a secret of his desire to return to Inter, and the player’s will was the decisive factor in making the improbable return to Inter happen.

The Corriere suggests that if Hakimi feels the same way as his former teammate Lukaku, then a return to the Nerazzurri is never as impossible as it may seem.
