Tottenham Hotspur wingback Ivan Perisic has revealed that he spoke to his semifinal opponent at the World Cup and former club teammate Lautaro Martinez during the group stage in Qatar, but hasn’t since.

Speaking at a press conference, as reported by FCInterNews, the 33-year-old responded to a question regarding whether he was in touch with Martinez as the two prepare to face off in tomorrow evening’s semifinal match between Croatia and Argentina.

Current Inter teammates Martinez and Marcelo Brozovic will come face to face at international football’s biggest competition tomorrow.

Moreover, another very familiar face for Martinez is also a key part of Croatia’s squad, in the form of Perisic.

The 33-year-old was part of the Nerazzurri’s squad until last season when he left to join Tottenham Hotspur on a free transfer in the summer.

As Perisic explained, he has not spoken with Martinez since the group stage in Qatar.

“I haven’t spoken with Lautaro in a bit,” Perisic explained, “we talked during the group stage, but we haven’t since.”
