Contract extension talks between Chris Smalling and Roma are currently on standby, as the defender considers offers from Inter and Juventus.

This according to Italian news outlet Repubblica.it, who report that the Giallorossi have offered the 33-year-old Englishman a 2-year contract extension, but that the Nerazzurri and the Bianconeri are also in the picture, and he is considering his options.

Roma are increasingly prioritizing trying to agree a new deal with Smalling, whose current contract runs out at the end of June 2023.

The 33-year-old has not decided to exercise a clause in his contract to extend by a season.

Smalling’s form for the Giallorossi this season has attracted transfer interest from the likes of Inter and Juventus.

Roma are hoping to convince the Englishman to sign a new deal, and have put a two-year contract extension on the table.

However, the Giallorossi’s offer is not as high as what Juventus or Inter would be ready to offer him.
