Inter midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan could emerge as an important solution in attack for Inter coach Simone Inzaghi as he shines in an attacking midfielder in training.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the quality of the success of the coach’s tactical experiment with the Armenian during the World Cup break could give him new ideas for the rest of the season.

Mkhitaryan has been used as a second striker or attacking midfielder behind Edin Dzeko in Inter’s friendly matches against Gzira United and Red Bull Salzburg.

It is likely that the 33-year-old former Roma midfielder will once again be tested out in this position against Real Betis on Saturday.

Given the fitness issues of Joaquin Correa, and the difficulty juggling the form and fitness of Edin Dzeko, Lautaro Martinez, and Romelu Lukaku, Inzaghi may well feel that he needs another attacker to turn to at times.

Based on the encouraging signs of his experiments during the World Cup training break, Mkhitaryan may be the player who the coach increasingly turns to for solutions in attack when the club season returns.
