Italian journalist Fabio Caressa believes that Inter midfielder Marcelo Brozovic has shown why he is so well-regarded in his position with his performances for Croatia at the World Cup in Qatar.

Speaking on Twitch, as reported by FCInterNews, Caressa praised the 30-year-old for his displays at the tournament, calling him a “superior player” on the evidence that he has shown.

Brozovic and his teammates will not be in the World Cup final after suffering a 3-0 loss at the hands of Argentina in yesterday’s semifinal clash.

However, a run to the semifinal stage which included a memorable penalty shootout win over Brazil was still an impressive achievement for Croatia considering their relatively small population compared to many other nations considered to be among the favourites.

The Croats particularly proved to be outstanding in midfield, where Brozovic was at the heart of an effective trio that also contained Chelsea’s Matteo Kovacic and Real Madrid’s Luka Modric.

Caressa gave the view that “Brozovic has been confirming with his performances at this World Cup that he’s a superior player in midfield.”
