Inter’s Romelu Lukaku and Juventus’s Dusan Vlahovic could both be hoping that 2023 is a year more defined by strikers in Serie A than 2022 has proved to be.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInter1908, who suggest that both of the pair will want to put their stamp on the Italian top flight from the Number Nine position.

Both Lukaku and Vlahovic had come into the season with the expectation on their shoulders that they would be key players at the top end of the Serie A table, scoring the goals that would fire their teams into title contention.

In the Belgian’s case, fitness and injury issues have meant that he has barely been able to play for the Nerazzurri.

Meanwhile, Vlahovic has found his form drifting away from him a bit, not scoring as regularly as he had for Fiorentina.

Over the second part of the season, both Inter and Juventus will be hoping to get the best out of their strikers, as so far the one team to have done so have been Napoli with Victor Osimhen, meaning that they are well clear at the top of the Serie A table.
