Former Palermo fullback Achraf Lazaar believes that fellow Moroccan Achraf Hakimi could one day make a return to Inter from Paris Saint-Germain.

Hakimi joined Inter from Real Madrid in 2020 and helped the Nerazzurri win the Serie A title under coach Antonio Conte, before financial restrictions saw the club sell him to PSG after only a single season in Italy.

However, in an interview published in today’s newspaper edition of Libero, former Newcastle United defender Lazaar revealed that Hakimi’s affection for Inter remained strong and he would not rule out the wingback wearing the Nerazzurri’s shirt again some time in the future.

“We were very good friends when he arrived at Inter, we were always together, we were practically inseparable,” Lazaar claimed.

“Achraf loves Inter so much. He’s doing well in Paris, he’s at a huge club, but Inter have remained close to his heart. Hakimi is the best right-back in the world and they’re not stupid at PSG; they’ll keep him close.

“The Nerazzurri let him slip away due to problems at the club, but relations between Achraf and Inter are very good, never say never in football,” the Portimonense defender concluded.

Hakimi made 45 appearances for Inter in all competitions in his sole season with the club, scoring seven goals and providing 11 assists.

The 24-year-old was part of the Morocco side that finished fourth in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
