Inter goalkeeper Gabriel Brazao spoke of his joy at taking to the pitch during the 1-1 draw against Real Betis this evening, after suffering long-term injuries.

The Brazilian made his first appearance for the Nerazzurri after replacing Samir Handanovic in the second half of the friendly at the Estadio Benito Villamarin in Seville, after suffering a cruciate ligament injury in 2021, before enduring a relapse whilst on loan at Cruzeiro in May.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Inter.it, after the final whistle, Brazao declared his joy at being able to play his first game for the Nerazzurri, and was glad to put two difficult seasons behind him.

“I am happy because I am coming out of a tough patch in my career. I faced some bad injuries and I hadn’t played for two years, but now I am happy to be back,” the 22-year-old said.

The Minas Gerais-native was thankful to his Inter teammates as they guided him through his serious injuries and his return to action, and felt that the support of the squad had made a difference.

“So many teammates gave me advice, helping me so much every day to make me feel better,” he added.

Brazao joined Inter from Parma in 2019 but was sent out on loan to Spanish clubs Albacete and Real Oviedo, before his most recent stint back at former club Cruzeiro in Brazil.
