Inter midfielder Marcelo Brozovic is set to miss Croatia’s 2022 FIFA World Cup third-place playoff match against Morocco through injury.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, the 29-year-old is not ready to feature in today’s clash at the Khalifa International Stadium, as Croatia seek to earn the bronze medal.

Brozovic was withdrawn in the second of the semi-final defeat to Argentina on Tuesday and is struggling with a left thigh flexor muscle strain, prompting coach Zlatko Dalic to opt for Lovro Majer in his midfield trio, alongside Mateo Kovacic and Luka Modric.

Former Dinamo Zagreb player Brozovic has suffered an injury-hampered campaign this season, with an injury picked up on international duty during the UEFA Nations League in September ruling him out until early November.

He returned for Inter’s final three games before the World Cup break, but his latest setback may be cause for concern for the Nerazzurri.
