Inter will pay tribute to former defender and assistant coach Sinisa Mihajlovic ahead of today’s friendly against Real Betis, after he passed away yesterday.

According to FCInterNews.it, the Nerazzurri have plans in place to honour the former Serbia international, and will don black armbands for the match against their La Liga opponents this evening.

Mihajlovic passed away yesterday after a lengthy battle against leukaemia, prompting an outpouring of grief from across Italian football, and Inter are also set to hold a minute’s silence in his memory before kick-off.

The former Roma and Sampdoria defender joined Inter from Lazio in 2004 and made 43 appearances for the club before retiring in 2006, scoring six goals and winning the Scudetto.

Upon his retirement, he immediately took up the role of assistant coach under Roberto Mancini for a further two seasons, before embarking on a career as a senior coach.

Mihajlovic took charge of Catania, Fiorentina, Sampdoria, AC Milan, Torino, Sporting CP, and the Serbia national team, whilst he both started and ended his managerial career at the helm of Bologna.
