Inter wingback Denzel Dumfries has received praise for his performances at the 2022 FIFA World Cup for the Netherlands from Italian journalist Fabio Caressa.

The former PSV Eindhoven player caught the eye in Qatar as Louis Van Gaal’s side reached the quarter-final stage, with Dumfries particularly impressing in the Round of 16 3-1 win over the USA, in which he scored and provided two assists.

Speaking on his Twitch account, and as reported by FCInter1908.it, Caressa argued that Dumfries had performed well in all of the Netherlands’ group stage games, as well as the win over the USA, and his only poor performance came in the penalty shootout defeat to Argentina, in which he was sent off.

“Apart from the last game played, Dumfries has had a great World Cup in my opinion,” Caressa declared.

Meanwhile, it is reported that the 26-year-old’s value has now increased significantly following his solid World Cup campaign, with Inter ready to demand in excess of €50 million to sell him.

Dumfries joined Inter from PSV in 2021 and has made 65 appearances for the Nerazzurri, scoring seven goals.
