Inter could extend the contracts of defender Danilo D’Ambrosio and captain Samir Handanovic past the end of the current season.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri are considering offering new deal to the pair on the basis of their status in the team as “locker room leaders.”

Inter are considering their strategy with a number of players whose current contracts are set to run out at the end of the current campaign.

With the likes of Edin Dzeko and Matteo Darmian, the Nerazzurri’s inclination is towards offering new deals to the players.

In the case of D’Ambrosio and Handanovic, both of the duo have found that their role on the pitch has been diminished in recent seasons.

However, in both cases, they are still considered to be important figures behind the scenes, given their leadership roles within the squad.

Accordingly, Inter could still extend both of the pair’s contracts past the end of June 2023.
