Inter striker Lautaro Martinez was very emotional in the celebrations of Argentina’s triumph over France in the final of the FIFA World Cup yesterday evening.

Speaking to reporters during the scenes following the match, via FCInterNews, the 25-year-old was in tears of joy, dedicating the achievement to his daughter.

Martinez was a part of the Argentina team which won the country’s first World Cup since the 1986 edition of the tournament.

After the Albiceleste got their campaign off to the roughest of starts in the form of a shock 2-1 loss to Saudi Arabia in their group stage opener, they found their feet and built momentum.

Martinez perhaps did not play the role that was expected of him in a successful tournament for Argentina, being dropped from the starting eleven and failing to score or assist a goal.

However, the Inter striker still more than had his role to play, and celebrated emotionally.

“My family has travelled all over the world to come and be with me and support me,” he said tearfully, adding “I dedicate this win to my daughter, who’s changed my life.”

“Thanks everyone!” he added.
