Inter striker Lautaro Martinez is immensely proud of having helped make history with the Argentine national team at the World Cup this year.
The 25-year-old posted on his Instagram account after the Albiceleste’s dramatic victory over France in the final of the competition to express how much the moment meant for him.
Argentina are World Cup champions for the first time in over three decades.
The Albiceleste prevailed over France in the final of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, winning a penalty shootout after the frenetic match had finished 3-3 after extra time.
Martinez was on the pitch as Argentina won the shootout, having also helped to set up the third goal during extra time, and celebrated with his teammates.
The Inter striker has now achieved something that is a dream for virtually all footballers, but out of reach for all but a few, in winning international football’s biggest competition.
Martinez posted on his Instagram account after the match, “18/12/2022 is a date that will live forever in the memory of all Argentines!”
“Thank you to my family for always having my back, I love you!”
“Vamos Argentina!!” the Inter striker closed.
