Inter striker Lautaro Martinez has been praised in Italian media for giving Argentina’s attack an extra boost of energy in extra time of their World Cup final win against France.
The Nerazzurri striker received a grade of 6/10 in the player ratings for the match published in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who particularly highlighted the lift that he gave to the team.
Martinez started on the bench yesterday as he has done throughout the knockout rounds, left out in favour of Manchester City’s Julian Alvarez.
However, the 25-year-old was turned to in extra time as the Albiceleste’s attack was beginning to lose energy.
Martinez gave Argentina’s attack exactly the extra dimension that it needed, in the view of the Gazzetta.
The Inter striker helped to set up Lionel Messi’s goal for 3-2, a product of the extra running and intensity he brought to the pitch.
