AC Milan are seriously considering the possibility of building a new stadium outside the city of Milan, which could mean building on their own rather than together with Inter.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper La Repubblica, via FCInterNews, who report that the Rossoneri are closely examining Plan B options Sesto San Giovanni and San Donato Milanese, and that they will be certain of their plans by the end of 2023.

Inter and Milan are both pushing to try and get approval on their plans to build a new stadium in Milan to replace the San Siro.

The clubs cannot start construction or begin serious investment into the project until they have certainty that they will be able to begin work.

Accordingly, the two clubs have also considered the possibility of alternative plans, namely the possibility of building in an area outside of the city of Milan.

According to La Repubblica, it is Milan who are currently looking more seriously into the possibility of building in Sesto or in San Donato.

If the process of getting approval to begin construction in Milan does not speed up, then the Rossoneri could feel compelled to turn to a Plan B option.

The Rossoneri want to have clarity on the future by the end of 2023, even if this means settling on building outside of the city of Milan.

If Milan do decide to build a new stadium in Sesto or in San Donato, this could mean doing so without Inter being involved.
