Romelu Lukaku’s future at Inter is in the balance as the club have yet to make a decision on whether or not to extend his loan deal.
This according to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, who reported this afternoon via FCInterNews that the Nerazzurri will decide on whether or not to try and keep the Belgian past next summer based on his performances over the rest of the current season.
If Inter want to keep Lukaku past the end of the campaign they will have to agree a new deal with Chelsea.
Given the Belgian’s struggles with injury over the first portion of the campaign, the Nerazzurri aren’t fully convinced that they should bring the 29-year-old back next season.
Right now, Lukaku is working to get back to his best so that he can finally make the expected impact from January onwards.
Should the Belgian show his best form over the rest of the season then there is little doubt that Inter will try to extend his loan from Chelsea.
However, should the struggles for fitness and form continue, the Nerazzurri could decline to do so.
