Salernitana and former Inter, Lazio, and Sampdoria wingback Antonio Candreva is happy to see his former Nerazzurri teammate Lautaro Martinez succeed at the World Cup with Argentina.

Speaking to Italian news outlet TuttoMercatoWeb, the 35-year-old noted that he has messaged the Argentine striker to give his congratulations after the achievement of winning international football’s biggest prize.

Candreva spent four seasons at Inter, with two of those coinciding with Martinez, who joined the Nerazzurri from River Plate in the summer of 2018.

During their time together at the club, the two men got to know each other on a personal as well as on a sporting level.

For Candreva, it is very positive to see a former teammate like Martinez winning the World Cup.

The 25-year-old, who joined Inter with a lot of his career in front of him, has only grown and developed both alongside Candreva and after the wingback left, and has found himself a world champion.

“I messaged him to congratulate him on becoming world champion,” Candreva said of his former teammte, “it’s a massive achievement for him and for Argentina.”
