Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi feels that the team must do better in Serie A in 2023.

Speaking at the team’s Christmas party, as reported by FCInterNews, the coach stressed that nothing is lost yet, but that the team are obliged to do better for themselves and for the fans.

The Nerazzurri did not get off to the start that they wanted in Serie A this season.

Some damaging early losses have left the Nerazzurri with an 11-point gap to make up on league leaders Napoli.

Coming back in the title race would be far from impossible, but not if the team play as they did over the first part of the campaign.

This is in contrast to the preseason expectation that Inter would be among the main favourites to win the Scudetto.

For Inzaghi, this standard is not acceptable, and the coach emphasized the need to prove themselves when they return to Serie A.

“I want to thank everyone because we’ve been here for eighteen months, and have been very well-received by everyone,” the coach said, “first and foremost by the President.”

“The club directors are always with us and have made us feel at home right from the start,” he continued.

“Thanks must also go to the players,” Inzaghi added.

“Our first season was a rewarding one, with two trophies won and a title race that we contested right down to the last day.”

“Now we’re starting again and we have to do our best.”

Inzaghi emphasized that “We owe it to ourselves and to our fans who have never abandoned us in difficult moments, the fans have always been there for us.”

“Nothing is lost,” the coach concluded, “we’ll try to restart in the best way we can.”
