Inter are likelier to sign Bournemouth goalkeeper Neto than Borussia Monchengladbach’s Yann Sommer as a replacement if captain Samir Handanovic leaves next summer.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInter1908, who report that the Brazilian has moved ahead of the Swiss as the Nerazzurri’s pick to take the place of Handanovic as backup to Andre Onana in goal.

Inter could find themselves having to replace Handanovic should the 38-year-old not agree a contract extension as his deal runs out at the end of June 2023.

The aim would be to sign an experienced keeper who can reliably back up Onana in goal.

Sommer has been one of the names linked as a possible target, as the 33-year-old will be available on a free transfer in the summer.

However, according to Sky, the Nerazzurri are increasingly keen to try and move for former Fiorentina, Juventus, Valencia, and Barcelona keeper Neto, whose contract with Premier League side Bournemouth runs out at the end of June 2023.
