Inter are keen to sign Racing Club midfielder Carlos Alcaraz to strengthen their midfield, whilst Barcelona’s Franck Kessie would be their main alternative to the 20-year-old.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri are aiming to beat the competition from Porto and Wolverhampton Wanderers to Alcaraz’s signature.
Inter have been considering their next signing in midfield, where Roberto Gagliardini is set to depart at the end of his current deal next summer.
Alcaraz is rated highly by Assistant Sporting Director Dario Baccin, who observed the young Argentine closely whilst on a scouting mission in South America.
The price tag for the 20-year-old would be around €15 million, although Inter could offer striker Facundo Colidio to Racing Club to meet part of his valuation.
Porto and Wolves are also keen on signing Alcaraz, although the player’s preference would be a move to Inter, who are hoping that they can wrap up a deal for him.
Should a move for Alcaraz not materialize, the Nerazzurri could aim to take advantage of former AC Milan midfielder Kessie’s situation at Barcelona by signing the Ivorian.
A move for previous target Azzedine Ounahi would be unlikely as his club Angers would demand around €40 million.
