Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi will be very keen to avoid any lingering effects of participating in the World Cup on his players as a massively important January approaches.
This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who note that the coach will particularly want Romelu Lukaku and Stefan de Vrij to put disappointments from Qatar out of their minds.
Lukaku and de Vrij will have been two of the Inter players to have felt disappointed after their time at international football’s showpiece occasion.
The Belgian was unable to keep his country from a disappointing group stage exit due to form and fitness issues, whilst the Dutchman did not get out onto the pitch for a singly minute in Qatar.
Meanwhile, there is a real risk that the likes of Lautaro Martinez and Marcelo Brozovic could be depleted after their exertions in deep runs into the tournament.
For Inzaghi, the priority will be to get all of his squad back into shape both mentally and physically.
The Nerazzurri face a crucial run of matches in Serie A as well as the Coppa Italia and the Supercoppa Italiana, and the coach will not want any nasty hangover from the World Cup.
