Inter striker Romelu Lukaku has been fully healed from his thigh injury for some time, and now he is targeting a return to full match-fitness.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInter1908, who report that the 29-year-old is aiming to recover his best athletic condition ahead of the team’s return to Serie A action against Napoli next month.

Lukaku had been out for two months recovering from a thigh strain, and then the injury relapsed not long after his return, in early November.

The issue had never been that the striker had been unable to recover from the injury, but rather that he has had to work very slowly to build up his ideal athletic condition.

Accordingly, the 29-year-old was in fact not injured for much of the World Cup with Belgium, but far from his physical best.

The same has been true since the Belgian’s return to training with Inter, and so he is now looking to use the remaining training sessions and friendly matches to reach peak condition.
