Italian journalist Fabrizio Biasin expects that Inter will not sign Borussia Monchengladbach striker Marcus Thuram for cheap if they do get hold of him.
Speaking to Italian broadcaster Telelombardia, via FCInter1908, Biasin noted that even though the Frenchman is only a few months away from the expiration of his contract with Gladbach, he will still require a significant investment.
The fact that Thuram could be available on a free transfer next summer certainly serves to make the 25-year-old an attractive target for Inter.
However, it is the same for many big clubs around Europe, and so the demand for Thuram is high.
This could lead the Nerazzurri or another club to shell out a fee to sign the Frenchman during the January transfer window, whilst it also means that the player’s wage demands will hardly be low.
For this reason, Biasin feels that Inter are under no illusions that signing Thuram would simply be an opportunistic low-cost transfer.
“He has many clubs interested in him, so either you could try to reach an agreement to sign him for June, or else put €20 million on the table in January, thanks and goodbye,” he said.
“I spoke to Piero Ausilio the other night, and I told him that his free transfer radar must be starting up around this time of year, I asked him about Thuram, he replied: ‘Thuram, he won’t come cheap.'”
