Inter wingback Matteo Darmian is close to extending his contract with the Nerazzurri.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInter1908, who report that the club are close to agreeing a new two-year deal with the former Manchester United, Parma, and Torino wingback.

Darmian signed a three-year deal with the Nerazzurri upon joining from Parma during the summer transfer window of 2020.

The 33-year-old’s deal runs out at the end of June 2023.

However, the club are in no hurry to see Darmian leave, and still consider him to be an important contributor within the squad.

Accordingly, contract extension talks have been ongoing with the 33-year-old and his representatives.

According to the Corriere, the negotiations are headed in a positive direction.

The Nerazzurri are close to reaching a full agreement with Darmian on a new deal, with both parties keen to continue on together past the end of the season.
