Club Brugge winger Tajon Buchanan is Inter’s first-choice option to replace Denzel Dumfries if the Dutchman is sold.
This according to Italian broadcaster SportItalia, who report that the Nerazzurri see the 23-year-old Canadian international as having the ideal qualities to take the place of Dumfries.
Inter watched Buchanan in action for Canada at the World Cup in Qatar, where the 23-year-old Brugge player was one of his country’s key players.
Even though Canada did not take a single point from their first appearance at the World Cup finals since 1986, Buchanan’s performances were a standout.
Inter see the 23-year-old as having the athleticism and positional sense to cover the entire right flank in a manner similar to Dumfries.
Accordingly, Buchanan has jumped to the front of Inter’s list of possible candidates to replace Dumfries should he leave.
The 26-year-old former PSV wingback currently looks to be the main candidate for a big money sale, meaning that the Nerazzurri could soon go in search of a right-wingback, and Buchanan is one of the first names on their list.
