Governor of the Lombardia region Attilio Fontana feels that it is necessary for Inter and AC Milan to build a new stadium to replace the San Siro.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster SportItalia, via FCInterNews, Fontana backed the club’s view that a new stadium will be necessary for them to keep up with clubs at the top European level.

The Nerazzurri and the Rossoneri have always been clear on the fact that they feel that they must replace the San Siro in order to modernize their infrastructure and increase revenues.

The administrative and bureaucratic hurdles that have mounted delays have frustrated the clubs because they feel that there is little time to waste when it comes to getting up to speed with other big European clubs in terms of having a modern stadium.

For his part, Lombard governor Fontana agrees with the clubs and hopes that they can be successful in their plans.

“Regardless of the choice, it’s necessary for clubs like Inter and Milan to have a stadium that operates seven days a week and can keep up with the level of other top European clubs,” he said.
