Italian journalist Marco Bellinazzo believes that the most interest in replacing DigitalBits as Inter’s main shirt sponsor is coming from companies in the online betting sector.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Radio Nerazzurra, via FCInterNews, the journalist explained that a number of betting companies would be interested in agreeing a sponsorship deal with the Nerazzurri, but that this would be continent on a change to the regulations in Italy.

Inter will hope to find a replacement for DigitalBits as their main shirt sponsor as soon as possible given the cryptocurrency company’s continued nonpayment of owed amounts.

According to Bellinazzo, betting companies are among the likeliest candidates to replace the existing sponsor.

However, at the moment, such sponsors are not allowed for Italian football clubs under the existing regulations, meaning that the so long as these rules are in place, such a partnership would not be possible for the Nerazzurri.

Of the DigitalBits situation, Bellinazzo explained that “I think everything is linked to the entry of a potential new sponsor into contention.”

“I think that there’s a lot of interest from betting companies,” he continued, “now we’re awaiting news on whether the ban on betting sponsors under the Dignity Declaration will be lifted, something which is harmful and anachronistic from my point of view.”

“It has mainly damaged football given the loss of €120 million a year, and in any event I don’t think gambling addiction can be fought by these bans.”
