Atalanta President Antonio Percassi On Inter Target Giorgio Scalvini: “No Chance That He Leaves In January”

Atalanta President Antonio Percassi feels that there is absolutely no chance of Inter-linked defender Giorgio Scalvini leaving during the January transfer window.

Speaking to Bergamo-based newspaper L’Eco di Bergamo in an interview published in today’s print edition, via FCInter1908, the La Dea President stressed that despite the transfer interest that has developed around Scalvini, the 19-year-old will stay until at least the end of the season.

Scalvini’s reputation has skyrocketed over the past couple of seasons, as the young defender has cemented an important place for himself in Atalanta’s starting eleven.

This has meant that a number of big clubs both in Serie A and around Europe are already eyeing a move for Scalvini up.

Inter are one of the teams most strongly linked with the 19-year-old, as they could see him as a player to invest in to strengthen their defense in the long term.

As far as a move in January, however, Percassi has categorically ruled such a possibility out.

“I can assure you that Scalvini will not be leaving Bergamo yet,” the Atalanta President said, “he’s a symbol of the players coming through our academy and growing up.”

“And Ruggeri isn’t going to leave either, we want to see what his potential is, and he’s playing under the right coach to develop him.”

“But there’s no need to go into details now, the transfer window will end on January 31.”
