Legendary former AC Milan head coach Arrigo Sacchi feels that Inter haven’t been consistent enough this season.

Writing in a column published in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, the former coach gave the view that the Nerazzurri’s form has fluctuated too much throughout the start of the campaign.

Inter had plenty of very positive moments through the start of their season, between Serie A and especially the Champions League.

However, any time some momentum looked to be building up, it seemed to come to a halt with another setback.

This erratic form saw the Nerazzurri lose decisive matches against the likes of Lazio, AC Milan, Udinese, Roma, and Juventus in the league.

For Sacchi, this is a key indication that the Nerazzurri must still continue to search for consistency.

The former coach believes that the quality is there for Inter to have a positive rest of the season, particularly with Romelu Lukaku back, but that they must put their struggles for consistency behind them.

“The Nerazzurri, so far, have fluctuated a lot, both in the league and in the Champions League,” he writes.

“Their path so far has had far too many ups and downs.”

“But Inzaghi has a great squad at his disposal,” Sacchi continues, “great experience, physicality, technique.”

“They struggle to always be at their best, and this is an aspect on which they must work.”

“Sometimes the quality of their style of play has been lacking, and sometimes they haven’t had participation from the whole collective.”

“It should always be remembered that for a team to be at its best, the following qualities must be possessed,” Sacchi argues, “complete motivation, team spirit, and organization to the style of play.”

“If these elements are missing, you can have the best star players on the planet but you still won’t go far.”

Sacchi suggests that “Lukaku’s return is essential, he’s an excellent centre-forward, even if he’s missed a few too many goals lately, and he can help the whole team grow.”
