Legendary former AC Milan head coach Fabio Capello feels that Inter striker Lautaro Martinez is currently a complete centre-forward.

Speaking to Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera, via FCInter1908, Capello also stressed how important it is that the Nerazzurri can call upon both Marcelo Brozovic and Hakan Calhanoglu as high-quality holding midfield options.

Martinez’s goalscoring record with Inter is very good, with the Argentine having emerged as a threat in front of goal last season in particular when he was the team’s top scorer.

However, goals are not all that the 25-year-old brings to the team.

Even when he is not scoring, Martinez has proven able to lead the line with his workrate and intensity, whilst he has also improved in terms of his linkup play as he has grown season on season.

Capello said of Martinez’s performance in the World Cup final that “I like him, he’s a complete striker.”

“Sometimes in the final he was a bit off the pace, but I think that’s also because the game is a bit slower in Italy,” the former coach continued of Martinez.

Regarding the fact that both Brozovic and Calhanoglu are viable options at the base of midfield, Capello said that “As a coach, these are the kinds of problems I’d like to have.”

“It can depend on how the team want to play, and also on the particular match,” he added.
