Inter striker Lautaro Martinez and midfielder Marcelo Brozovic are only likely to be used as second half substitutes in Inter’s Serie A clash with Napoli next month.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the pair are unlikely to be fit to start given their late returns from the World Cup.
Martinez and Brozovic are both set to return to training in Milan around December 29-30 after reaching the latter stages of the World Cup with Argentina and Croatia respectively.
It is therefore unlikely that in the few days’ training sessions that they participate in prior to the match against Napoli on January 4, the duo will be able to reach full match-fitness.
Accordingly, the Gazzetta report, it is likely that Edin Dzeko and Romelu Lukaku will start in attack for the Nerazzurri and Hakan Calhanoglu at the base of midfield, with Martinez and Brozovic on the bench ready to come on during the second half.
