Inter midfielder Marcelo Brozovic will only be in the starting eleven for next month’s Serie A clash with Napoli if he is fully match-fit.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper the Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the 30-year-old will not start the match if he is not deemed to have reached peak condition in the training sessions before the match.
Brozovic will be one of the late returnees to Inter training from the World Cup, along with striker Lautaro Martinez.
The Croat will use the few days of training in the leadup to the clash with league leaders Napoli on January 4 to try and reach full match-fitness, but there is hardly a guarantee that he will be able to be back to his best in time for the match.
Accordingly, should it be deemed that there are any doubts about Brozovic, then Hakan Calhanoglu will start the match at the base of midfield.
