Legendary former Inter striker Alessandro Altobelli feels that a comeback in the Serie A title race could be difficult for the Nerazzurri precisely because they have multiple teams to catch up to.

Speaking to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview published in today’s print edition, via FCInter1908, the former striker stressed the view that Inter are chasing not just Napoli but also AC Milan and Juventus.

League leaders Napoli will be well aware that in spite of the lead that they’ve build for themselves, they will have multiple teams on their tail.

Any of the Nerazzurri, the Rossoneri, the Bianconeri, or even Lazio, Roma, or Atalanta, could believe that they are in a good position to catch up if the Partenopei falter.

However, for all of the chasing pack, there will be a keen awareness that they are not only chasing Napoli, but also locked in a tight race with one another.

“Inter, Milan and Juve can be a nuisance for Napoli,” Altobelli said, “they will certainly reduce the gap, but we’ll have to see how close they actually get.”

He continued that “It’s tough for Inter, not only because of the eleven-point gap, but also because Milan and Juve are also ahead of them, and therefore they have to catch up to three different rivals.”
