Inter’s squad could look a lot different at the start of next season than it does now, depending on which players’ contract are extended.
This according to the online edition of Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera, via FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri could see a number of players depart on free transfers at the end of the campaign, which would lead to a number of replacements arriving in the summer.
As far as players who look all but certain to leave Inter in the summer, midfielder Roberto Gagliardini would certainly be replaced by a new signing, whilst Dalbert could also be on his way, albeit not likely to be replaced.
Both backup goalkeeper Samir Handanovic and third-choice Alex Cordaz see their contracts run out at the end of June 2023, and if either leave then they would have to be replaced.
Among the players whose contracts the Nerazzurri are keen to extend, Milan Skriniar is foremost, but talks are also beginning with all of Edin Dzeko, Matteo Darmian, Stefan de Vrij, and Danilo D’Ambrosio.
The outcomes of all of those negotiations will play a big role in the kind of incoming business that the Nerazzurri do in the summer.
If any of the quartet leave, then it is all but inevitable that they would be replaced.
Meanwhile, it is very much an open question whether the season-long loan deals of Romelu Lukaku and Francesco Acerbi will be extended.
