Romelu Lukaku is aiming to extend his total for career goals in an Inter shirt to eighty over the rest of the 2022-23 season.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Belgian is aiming to add fourteen goals to the 66 he has already scored in a Nerazzurri shirt, and to push the team into a comeback in the Serie A title race.
Across his first two seasons at Inter Lukaku scored 64 goals across all competition, whilst he was able to bag two more this season despite having played very little due to injury, finding the back of the net against Lecce and Viktoria Plzen.
Now, the 29-year-old is hoping that unlike in the first part of the campaign, he can be available regularly across the packed fixture list that lays ahead.
Provided that Lukaku does not miss many matches as he did prior to the World Cup break, there will be no shortage of opportunities for him to extend his goal tally in an Inter shirt.
If the 29-year-old can reach eighty goals by the end of the season, he will be approaching the club’s all-time top ten goalscorers list, and if he can bag fourteen goals before the season is out, he could be decisive in the Serie A title race.
