Inter have considered striker Romelu Lukaku to be a disappointment so far, and will ask Chelsea for a discount if they are to extend his loan past the end of the current season.

This according to UK news outlet the Daily Mail, who report that the Nerazzurri feel that the Belgian’s form and fitness have not been up to par compared to where they had been when he left in the summer of 2021.

Whilst the return of Lukaku from Chelsea just one season after he made a big-money move to the English capital has been seen as something of a transfer coup for Inter off the pitch, on it he has hardly justified the sense that it was a significant transfer.

Injury issues have plagued the 29-year-old all season, restricting him to just two starts and two substitute appearances for the Nerazzurri, making it impossible for him to find chemistry with his teammates.

Accordingly, the Daily Mail reports, Inter CEO Beppe Marotta will ask Chelsea for a discount on a loan fee in the summer.
