Inter could use the January transfer window to agree a deal with a replacement for captain Samir Handanovic for the summer.

This according to Sky Sport Italia transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio, via FCInterNews, who reports that the Nerazzurri could look to agree a free transfer with one of Bournemouth’s Neto, Borussia Monchengladbach’s Yann Sommer, or Boca Juniors’ Agustin Rossi already in January.

Inter are beginning to think seriously about how they will replace Handanovic as a backup to Andre Onana in the event that the captain does not extend his contract past the end of June 2023.

All of Neto, Sommer, and Rossi are available on free transfers at the end of the season, and a deal for a player out of contract like this looks to be a definite part of the Nerazzurri’s strategy to replace Handanovic at low cost.

According to Di Marzio, Inter could already work next month to agree a deal with one of the trio for the summer.
