Inter could reignite their interest in Sassuolo midfielder Davide Frattesi in the event that Roma fail in their pursuit of him.

This according to Italian news outlet TuttoMercatoWeb, via FCInter1908, who report that the Nerazzurri could look to sign the 23-year-old in the summer, particularly in the event that one of Hakan Calhanoglu or Nicolo Barella were to leave.

Frattesi had been a major target for Inter at one point, heading into the summer transfer window prior to this season.

However, the Nerazzurri were put off by the Neroverdi’s €30-35 million asking price, and also sought a different profile in midfield, so they moved on to Empoli’s Kristjan Asllani.

However, Frattesi has never really left Inter’s radar.

At the moment, Roma are the team in pole position to sign the Sassuolo midfielder.

However, should the Giallorossi fail to get a deal done for Frattesi, Inter could decide to move for him starting in June.
