Inter are set to extend the contract of wingback Matteo Darmian after a meeting with his agent just before Christmas.
This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews, who report that only the last details regarding wages need to be ironed out after a meeting between the Nerazzurri and Darmian’s agent Tulio Tinti.
Inter are keen to extend Darmian’s contract past the end of June 2023 when it currently expires.
The 33-year-old has been at the Nerazzurri since the summer of 2020 when he signed on a three-year contract from Parma, and is seen as still having a significant role in the team.
The former Manchester United and Torino wingback’s versatility has further convinced Inter, considering that he is capable of playing on the right or left flank and on the right of a back three.
The likes of Monza and Darmian’s old club the Granata have expressed interest in a transfer if the wingback doesn’t extend with Inter, but he looks set to.
