Inter have identified their preferred replacements for both Milan Skriniar and Stefan de Vrij in the event that they are unable to extend the contracts of either or both of the defenders.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that Atalanta’s Giorgio Scalvini and Roma’s Chris Smalling are the Nerazzurri’s main targets to replace Skriniar and de Vrij respectively.

Skriniar and de Vrij have each been pillars of Inter’s defense in recent season, and if either or both were to leave at the end of their current contract, then the Nerazzurri would go in search of a defender with a similar profile to take their place.

In the case of Skriniar, if the Slovakian is to leave next June, then the Nerazzurri would go all-in for Scalvini, a major target to strengthen the defense for the present and future.

Meanwhile, if de Vrij were to leave then Inter would seek a more experienced player like the Dutchman, with Giallorossi defender Smalling foremost on their list.
