Chelsea are thinking about making a signing on their right flank to replace the injured Reece James, with Inter’s Denzel Dumfries one of the main targets.

This according to Sky Sport Italia transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio, via FCInterNews, who report that the Blues will evaluate how serious James’s injury is but could decide to bring in a right-sided player in January.

James made his return from a months-long spell on the sidelines in Chelsea’s Serie A clash with Bournemouth yesterday.

However, the 23-year-old was forced to leave the pitch as a substitute early on in the second half with injury.

Blues coach Graham Potter has confirmed that the injury affected the same part of James’s knee that he had been recovering from since Chelsea’s Champions League group stage clash with AC Milan in early October.

Di Marzio reports that Chelsea are seriously considering signing a right-back in January now, with Dumfries one of the first names on their list.
