Inter could reignite their interest in Roma-linked Sassuolo midfielder Davide Frattesi in the event that Chelsea try to sign Nicolo Barella.

This according to Italian news outlet La Repubblica, via FCInterNews, who report that Frattesi would be one of the Nerazzurri’s main targets to replace Barella should Chelsea move for the 25-year-old.

Barella remains a target for Premier League giants Chelsea.

The Blues could decide to step up their pursuit of the former Cagliari midfielder to build their midfield around.

In the event that the Nerazzurri were to accept an offer for Barella, then they would look to sign a like-for-like replacement.

According to La Repubblica, Brighton and Hove Albion’s Alexis Mac Allister would be one name on the Nerazzurri’s list, whilst Frattesi is also a possibility.

The Neroverdi midfielder has been a target for Inter in the past, and is seen as having an ideal profile to replace Barella.

Signing Frattesi ahead of Roma could prove difficult, however.

The Giallorossi have marked the 23-year-old as one of their main targets for next summer, whilst the player is reported to be keen on a return to the Italian capital.
