Inter’s pursuit of Club Brugge winger Tajon Buchanan and Racing Club midfielder Carlos Alcaraz is indicative of a new focus on signing young players.
This is the view in today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, who suggest that the Nerazzurri are clearly looking to lower the average age of the squad and refresh rather than targeting experienced players.
Inter have not been shy at taking advantage of opportunities to sign experienced players, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Francesco Acerbi having both arrived from the Italian capital in the summer, following Edin Dzeko in 2021.
However, whilst the club could always be attentive to these kinds of opportunities, their targets are starting to skew towards younger players.
23-year-old Canadian international Buchanan would cost around €17-18 million, and has emerged as Inter’s first-choice target to replace Denzel Dumfries should the Dutchman be sold.
Meanwhile, Alcaraz would cost a similar fee, and is once again a player who the Nerazzurri believe that they can bet on for the future at only 19 years of age.
