The fitness of Inter defender Stefan de Vrij will be assessed in view of his availability for next Wednesday’s Serie A clash with Napoli after he picked up a knock in training.

This according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it, who report that the Dutchman will miss out on tomorrow evening’s friendly match against Sassuolo, and it is not yet certain whether or not he will be able to face Napoli at the start of next month.

De Vrij picked up a minor muscle problem in today’s training session.

The problem is not overly serious, but should sideline the 30-year-old for tomorrow evening’s match against Sassuolo.

As far as the Nerazzurri’s return to Serie A action against league leaders Napoli, which is just over a week away, it is still not certain whether de Vrij will be available.

The former Lazio defender will undergo tests soon which should make clearer whether or not he can play against the Partenopei.
