Chelsea would seriously consider moving for Inter Milan wingback Denzel Dumfries as early as the January transfer window.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Blues are thinking about pushing for a deal for the €50-60 million-rated player next month to replace the injured Reece James.

Chelsea’s interest in Dumfries has never been a secret, with the Blues having already tried to sign the Dutchman in the summer.

A new attempt to sign Dumfries has been expected from the London-based club, possibly for the summer.

However, the timeline could be moved ahead for the Premier League giants by the vacancy left on their right flank after starting right-back James suffered a reinjury to his knee during their Premier League clash with Bournemouth this week.

Club captain Cesar Azpilicueta is 33, and the Blues could decide that it is time to turn to the transfer market to reinforce at right-back.

In this event, Dumfries would be one of the first names on Chelsea’s list.

Inter would value the former PSV wingback at no less thatn €50-60 million if Chelsea come calling in January.
