Former Inter and AC Milan and current Padovan director Massimiliano Mirabelli feels that it would be unacceptable if the Nerazzurri were to fail to extend defender Milan Skriniar’s contract.

Speaking to Italian news outlet TuttoMercatoWeb, the former Inter executive predicted that the 27-year-old would decide to extend his deal in the end.

The contract talks between Inter and Skriniar have already dragged on for longer than the Nerazzurri will have expected or wanted.

The Slovakian has had the club’s offer on the table for some time, whilst he is also considering the significant transfer interest emerging in him for next summer as he comes up with his response.

The loss of Skriniar would certainly be felt on the pitch given the former Sampdoria defender’s importance to the team.

Meanwhile, losing a player of Skriniar’s quality without a fee would also be difficult for the Nerazzurri to stomach.

Mirabelli predicted that “I think that he’ll extend his contract.”

“He knows that he plays for a top team, and Inter are aware that he can become part of the club’s heritage.”

“He can’t not be extended,” the executive added.
