Inter would see Roma-linked Sassuolo midfielder Davide Frattesi as the ideal replacement for Nicolo Barella in the event that the 25-year-old leaves for Chelsea.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInter1908, who report that the Nerazzurri could join the Giallorossi in the race to sign the 23-year-old should Barella be on his way.

Right now, Roma are the team in pole position to sign Frattesi.

However, the Neroverdi midfielder has been a player who Inter have targeted in the past, and he has never really left their radar.

Should Barella remain at the club, then Inter would not be likely to move for Frattesi, let alone overtake Roma in the race for his signature.

However, should Chelsea step up their interest in signing Barella, things could change.

If Inter are to sell Barella, then they would see Frattesi as a perfect replacement and would step up their pursuit of him.
